Travel is affordable!

It is Time to Apply for Premier Rewards Gold card from AMEX!

How-to: every deal-post contains availability, and link-button where ticket is searchable. Some deals have limited availability. For you convenience we may generate direct links or dates combinations. Information is valid at time of publication. So sometimes you may not find the price mentioned in the post (ex. after several days of the original posting date). It means that the deal was sold out or supplier (airline/agency) has changed the conditions or removed the offer.

Premier Rewards Gold card is one of the best credit cards on the market, and, probably, one of the most “affordable” cards from American Express.

Here is the brief list of its benefits:

And many more…but I would like to concentrate on $100 incidental fee credit.

So, what actually qualifies for a statement credit on Amex Premier Rewards Gold Credit card?

Through our research we have found, that you can get credit for:

  • Change fees
  • Phone reservation fees
  • Pet flight fees
  • In-flight amenity fees (beverages, food etc)
  • In-flight entertainment fees (excluding wireless internet)
  • Checked baggage fees
  • Overweight/oversize baggage fees
  • Airport lounge day passes and annual memberships
  • Seat assignment fees
  • Airlines gift cards

Fees not charged by the Card Member’s airline of choice (e.g. wireless internet and fees incurred with airline alliance partners) do not qualify for statement credits. Incidental air travel fees charged prior to selection of a qualifying airline are not eligible for statement credits. Airline tickets, upgrades, mileage points purchases, mileage points transfer fees, gift cards, duty free purchases, and award tickets are not deemed to be incidental fees.

As you can see, the list is pretty impressive. Note, that the charge by airline has to be separate to get a refund/credit.

Qualified airlines:

  • Alaska Airlines
  • American Airlines
  • Delta
  • Frontier
  • Hawaiian
  • JetBlue
  • Spirit
  • Southwest
  • United

You must register with airline in advance, in order to receive credit. So, be very attentive!

Bottom line

I would recommend to register for this before vacation or trip, when you KNOW which airline you are flying.

Also, if you happen not to travel during the year – do NOT let this benefit “fly away” from you and just order airline gift card, which you can use in the future. Try to get in smaller increments of $50, instead of one for $100.

And make sure to use this perk before December 31, as starting in January you are eligible to get this bonus again. With that said if you apply for Premier Rewards Gold card now, you can get 2 chances (in 2016) and in 2017 to get $100 credit.

Not to mention 25000 membership rewards sign-up bonus and other amazing perks of this card, so the annual fee (of $195), which is waived for the first year is covered by card’s benefits fro the upcoming year. And, basically, will receive 3 $100 incidental credits (2016 or now, in 2017, and in 2018 if you decide to keep the card and pay annual fee).
